ep240 pump good enough?
I have an ACdelco ep240 pump, with only a few miles on it. This was installed as an upgraded TBI pump, but then I changed direction, and am going with a LS motor.
I've gotten conflicting data on whether the ep240 will support a stock(325-ish hp) LS motor long-term. Some folks say the ep240 will easily handle a LS, others say it won't. Should I pony up the cash, and replace that pump with a ep381? Or would it be a waste of money? |
Re: ep240 pump good enough?
i used a walbro 255 on my lq9..makes 344hp..no issues
im not sure it compares to yours |
Re: ep240 pump good enough?
From what I can find, the ep240 only outputs ~51 psi, thats not enough for an ls, they need 58. You could probably make a 5.3 run on that pressure but it would need tuning work to do it. Cheaper to buy the higher pressure pump.

I just found this on jegs...its says 94 max psi....http://www.jegs.com/i/ACDelco/065/EP240/10002/-1

Re: ep240 pump good enough?
Well, max pressure isn't working pressure, who knows how little flow it would have at that pressure. Its also only rated at 15GPH flow rate, which is only good for ~180HP. Far too little for any ls engine.
