truck plans over the winter?
Now that colder weather is coming some of you will most likely take your truck off the street for the winter. What do you plan to do to your truck while it's down?
Yesterday I put up my lawn cutting equipment and made more room in my small shop. I plan to finally blow my stepside bed apart and begin the repairs on it. |
Re: truck plans over the winter?
I am going to start a complete restore on my 72. Down to frame and start over.

When I put my step side bed behind the shop it had no rust and a solid floor. That was 20 years ago. I had no intention it would be this long. The good thing is now days there are plenty of new parts available if needed.

Simple one, rear brakes because I don’t think they work.

Re: truck plans over the winter?
I am going to remove the bed wood and sand and refinish.
Possibly TMI seat and vintage air. |
Re: truck plans over the winter?
I've got an appointment for new exhaust on the 19th of this month. It's been at or below 30 degrees lately and I've got no heat in my C20. I'm hoping to investigate the blower motor and replace the slide switches and faceplate in the dash. I don't have AC, so no worries there. Any tips on finding a solution to my lack of heat would be very helpful. Thanks!

Re: truck plans over the winter?
I have been working on all the mechanical bits while driving my 68 fleetside this summer. Including wiring, factory A/C rebuild, steering gearbox and complete cooling system overhaul. When I bed her down for the winter hibernation she will get her front end rebuilt with disc brakes, re-geared with 3:73 gears and the new 700r4 installed that has been waiting patiently on my shop floor. Hopefully this time next year she will be getting ready for paint.

Re: truck plans over the winter?
I plan on driving the 71 this winter some when the weather permits.
The ramp truck is getting tilt steering and some floor work and maybe some more stuff done. Going to take the drive shafts out and replace the carrier's along with all new unversals.:chevy: |
Re: truck plans over the winter?
My only plan is to keep getting rid of all my trucks. When there is one left, its the one that stays. Too bad winter is a sucky time to try and get rid of stuff haha.

Just get it back home from paint and body and put it back together. Should have it within a couple of weeks - I hope. It has been a year, but the guy does super nice work. He did both my GTO's previously. He does the body work and primer in his shop ( and the inside) and will take it to his workplace to shoot the outside in the paint booth. Here is a photo of my 65 that he did the body and paint. Gave the car to my son in NC last April
