How to C-Notch Video

1 Attachment(s)
Guys,

First time installing air ride. I've been documenting the steps up onto this point. Our 68 CST is a Father Son project and my 6 year old is loving it.

Here's a video of how I did the C Notch. Thought it might help someone out. Subscribe if you want to see upcoming videos.

*Question - in the video you'll notice that i have 2" drop blocks installed. They allowed the axle to bottom out in the notch. I have since removed them to help with my pinion angle but I have about 2" before that axle will bottom out in the notch now....What are you guys doing to get maximum drop and have a decent pinion angle at ride height? Do they make Shimmed drop blocks?

Thanks.

I would post this in the Suspension Board on this site.

Probably get a quicker answer.

I've done this exact mod and in my experience, there's really no solution other than using the 2 inch blocks because the bags need room between the trailing arm and frame to work properly. Otherwise, the bags will squash before it bottoms out on the bump stops. You could just add a big washer on one side of the U bolt between the block and trailing arm if you need to change the pinion angle. I didn't notice any change on mine, though.

Ok. Cool. Do you have any pics of your ride? Just curious, what do you have done to the front. I'm doing bags, cupping the lower control arms, and 2" drop spindles.

Here's a thread I made back when I was learning as I went.

Last year I cut the back half of the frame off and welded up a new one to slam it. I have Choppin' Block control arms and 2.5" drop spindles. Cupping the LCAs and drop spindles will make it go much lower in the front than your rear setup. Your ride height will probably have a slight rake.
