Replace 76 a/c cab with 76 non-a/c cab?
Hello,
I have a rusty 76 K20 that has a/c. I have found a 76 K20 non-a/c cab for $100. Are there any concerns with changing cabs? I notice that there is no cargo light in the donor cab but other than that nothing else jumps out at me. Both are auto trans. I know that I will have hoops to jump through in swapping VIN numbers. Anyone ever swapped cabs in Washington State? Thank you. |

You have to have a title usually for both cabs to switch.

Thank you.
Yes, I will be getting the title with the donor cab. |

Double check the differences between AC and non-AC electrical. The climate controls for the heat only cab may be cable vs vacuum for the AC cab. Might not need the vacuum pot on the firewall.

The firewalls are different where the hvac box mounts. Be prepared to lose your a/c. Or you can cut/fill holes if you want to keep a/c. I have pics in my 78 build thread where I put a/c in a non a/c cab.

Adding factory AC to a non AC cab is simple. I have done this several times.Use the under hood AC unit as a template and draw out cardboard then use this to add subtract to the firewall. Not difficult.
