cylinder bore size question

What is the easiest way to tell if my block has been bored over

frogsmakr 11-28-2003 10:39 PM

look for .30 or .60 or similar stamped on the pistins

The stamp will be on the top of the pistons, usually under whatever carbon crud is on them. If the pistons are gone, then go to the nearest parts store and buy a cheap dial caliper. Then use it to measure the bore. It won't be exact, but it will let you know if it's oversized. a 350 small block has a standard bore of 4.000 inches. Check all the way around the cylinder, as the bore may be slightly out of round if it's really worn. Best way is with the pistons as stated above.
