A/c lines and hoses on a 67

All the hoses in the trucks I have seen, most 70 to 72, have had the hoses clamped when they were made. On my 67 it looks like they used special hose clamps with a tab on them to locate the clamp spot. I assume this is factory. Will these leak continually or will they work? This is the only truck I have ever seen this on. Any one still have this on their working ac system?

I still have these on my 69 GMC. They seem to be holding just fine. I do plan to swap to clamped hoses once the begin to leak.

They were on my '69, but I replaced them with the crimped type when I restored the truck since that's all that I saw available. They had worked fine with no leaks for 40 years.

That's awesome. I had my ac stuff restored about 5 years ago by faBenny. For some reason I thought I'd get crimped ends like the newer stuff but I got it back just as it was with new clamps. If it works I may just put it back this way.

They didn't start crimping until the 70's not sure what year though. My 71 has crimps but I had all the lines made myself.

My 64 SS Impala had factory AC and all the lines where clamped with the special clamps and it worked fine. When I re did the lines I crimped all of them but 2. They still have the old screw type clamps on them.

Note how the OEM AC compressor harness plug above is located at 11:00 - all the over-the-counter rebuilt compressors I've looked through have it located at 1:00

I almost didn't buy my compressor because of this. However, the price was right ($50).

One thing I don't ever recall seeing any discussion on is the fact these trucks used 2 different types of mounting brackets. Not sure when the change was made, but my early '69 used what I refer to as the earlier style that bridged the right side valve cover.

I would use crimped hoses. You will have less leaks over time.

I just bought this one from Alma. It is a brand new unit and has the 10 o clock position. I just wish it didn't have metric threads.

I would think that if you did periodic checks on the tightness of the clamps that it would lessen the chance of leaks.
