3,973 mile road trip in 15 days

I’ve been scrambling to get my truck ready for a trip from Springfield, MO to Atlantic City then Pittsburgh then York then State College then south through Louisville and back to Springfield. 2 weeks before I left I put front airbags on. Weekend before I left I switched rearend to a open 3.07 from 3.73 posi. Sunburnt left arm plus crazy heat wave with no A/C was fun. Camper tonneau cover held up but one of the wooden supports broke. Debris on the highway punched a little hole in the camper aluminum. I fixed it for the time being with jb weld. Through Indiana I got 21 mpg. I got to go to the Columbus Goodguys show, which was amazing to see that quality of work/money. Got to ride some fun skateparks. Also went off tossing to a campsite one night and scalped the ground for awhile. Sleeping in the camper when the feel like temperatures were 110 is like a oven. I fixed the wing window for my girl but by the end of the trip both windows were struggling hard to wind up. Also all the bumps loosened up the screw that holds my turn signal on. Which meant at random times (in traffic) my lever would ground out my horn which was awkward. I went with the theory that if I brought tools then I would have issues so I only brought some line wrenches. Amazing times out there remember these trucks are meant to be driven to enjoy. Finished off with doing a bike show in Houston Mo.

Sounds like you had lots of fun. I'm glad you got to take your truck and make some good memories with it.

Awesome road trip! It’s nice to really get out there and get some miles.

I’d want a new seat before I committed to that one.

Nothing better than driving these old rig's.

I have drove mine now 5 times on the Hot Rod Power Tour and each time put over 2000 miles on her in less than 8 days! It's made each trip without any problems. Well no major ones. I had a AC switch stop working on one trip and had the front sway bar bushings replaced this last time in June. Nothing better than seeing the USA in a Chevorlet!

Even more so in a C10!

That’s sweet I’m hoping to do that sometime. I’m actually working on putting a 1 1/16” sway bar on tonight instead of 7/8”.

Were you doing a buck, twenty in that pic, or did the needle just somehow get on the wrong side of the stop?

I did the s10 speedo swap and I just haven’t pulled gauges back out to reset needle yet.

Oh, ok. You just need to pull the little stops out, then power the speedo up and see where the needle moves to. If it does not go to 0, then with it still powered up, pull the needle off and reset it at 0, that should fix it. Then dont forget to put the little stops back in.
