question on leafs between 1/2 and 3/4 ton

I'm wanting to replace the suspension setup on my lwb gmc 3/4 ton with a 1/2 ton setup... I think I have the front figured out but I have a question or two about the rear.

1. Will the rear leafs from a swb fit?
2. Can I use the original heavy rear axle with the lighter springs until I find a suitable donor?

3. Is there any good site out there that outlines a 3/4 to 1/2 conversion?

Thanks in advance!

Be sure to measure the rear spring leafs from eye to eye, as the 3/4 leafs might be 56" whereas the 1/2 leafs might be 52".

You'll need to use springs from a 67 or 68 as the 69 and newer are different. You could just remove a leaf or two. SWB/LWB would have the same length/centering pin location.

ive done the reverse swap on the newer generation trucks.. the u bolts are different but if ya use the half ton ubolts with the half ton springs it works out fine
