68 C-20 PCV hose
 

I have been searching for a PCV Valve and hose for my 68 C-20. Can't seem to find one anywhere. The one I have is dried and cracked and I am sure causing me a vacuum leak.

Anyone know where I can get one or a compatible one?

I'm sure mine is just 3/8 fuel line. Air cleaner or carb hose?

Go to O’Reilly’s and say you need PCV hose. They sell actual proper PCV hose there instead of fuel lines. It comes in 24” lengths. I was lucky enough that I only needed 12”, so I have a replacement hose for next time!

PCV hose is different than fuel lines. It’s made to withstand the oil particles that will get in there.

It seems to be harder than just plain hose and it has a shape. I'll get a picture.
I am trying to keep this truck looking as original as possible

It’s probably just hard because it’s old. PCV hose is an easy off the shelf item. It’s your truck, but for me I don’t care so much about hoses and other wear items because you replace them every few years anyways. The one I bought is just black with maybe some really light type on it, but at the back of the engine bay you can’t tell. If it’s a show truck then that’s a different issue!

I do see some of the bent hoses on Amazon but says it won't fit my truck. I'll stop in Napa or O'Rielly's and see what I can find. Thanks for the input. Nice to be driving it at least and didn't get stuck!

Why not try your local auto parts store and ask if they carry the Dorman part number....

If they have it you can see if it will fit ....

Just be aware their price will be 50% or more higher than Amazon....

When you get your pcv done there’s an important job for you.
Get rid of that glass type fuel filter.
It’s a huge fire waiting to happen!

You know it! I had one on another vehicle and the thing somehow partly unscrewed itself. Easy to tighten back up, but, man the potential fire... :uhmk:

When my factory molded hose went bad, I simply bent up a piece of 3/8" steel brake line and put short nipples at the ends. As much stuff as was butchered on this truck, I'm not worried about that small bit of non-original parts.

And if you’re trying to be original you have the wrong style pcv.
You need a 90 degree style like in here.

Nothing fancy under this hood. I've used the elbow on the PCV on half a dozen of my GM rides. Never a problem.

For what it's worth, here's a picture of the hose and valve on the original engine from my '69 C20. Look's just like the OP's. The hose is also original. I replaced the valve in the early '70s with an identical straight valve. I tossed the valve I took off in my toolbox and it's still there!

Anybody want a picture or part number of the original valve?

Wrong again for the second time this year!
My apologies for the mistake.

What should I replace it with? The carb shop epoxied the bolt where the filter goes. Steel one?

Parts store has them.

A carb shop epoxied you’re fuel line!
You might need to fix that too. Take a pic of it. There are parts available to do it right.

No, they epoxied the the large nut that holds the filter. The fitting to the fuel line screws into the large nut. It was stripped when I got the truck,

My neighbor is a machinist. Later, he will put a heliicoil in for me and I will replace the hardline but I need the in-line for now

You can get a metal can-like filter. It's what I use on mine, though it does have a decent nut on the carburetor. My FiL installed the inline filter due to getting lots of crud in the auxiliary fuel tanks.

That’s bad.
There are replacement fittings available. It’s possible your original carb might not be fixable if it starts to leak.
Best to be gentle with it.
