Manual Fuel pump install 67-72 C10
PSA for any other amateurs stumbling on this in a google search... When youtube and the rest of the interweb say lift the pin, what they really mean is PUSH the pin up into the block.

Yes, and almost nobody mentions the short bolt in the front of the engine that lines up with the push rod. I remove it and put in a longer bolt that can snug up against the rod to hold the rod in the up position. Then, when done installing the fuel pump remove the longer bolt and re-install the short bolt. Shown here by forum member Longhorn Man in this thread:

I spent a lot of time frustrated while trying to install a fuel pump before I learned about that bolt here on this board. Sure makes the job easier!
