Do I need to pull the steering wheel to change the turn signal arm?
Need to replace a turn signal arm on a mid '80's C10 column. Chrome is peeling the the black is sun bleached gray. Plus I have a Dakota cruise control kit that uses its own dash mounted switch, so I would replace the arm with the version without cruise control.
I read in a search that the wheel doesn't need to be removed, but that thread was 16 years old, so all the pics were gone and most of the folks replying haven't been active in years. Thanks!! |

Nope. Just give a good yank straight outward and it will pop out. Just pulled mine yesterday for the umpteenth time. Been installing new stereo deck, Dakota Digital, and other things requiring the guage cluster and steering wheel to be removed. Just line up the tabs and push the new stalk in.

It might depend on the year of your column. IIRC, on my 1975 column without cruise control the turn signal stalk is held on to the mechanism with a single set screw right where the stalk is up against the column. Its easy to remove and replace.
