Center Console question ???
 

Hey...
I have a junkyard center console. It’s probably out of a Suburban...can’t remember. When I pulled it, I pulled the rear bracket with it. Maybe I couldn’t get the front one. Again, can’t remember.

The question is: should this console also have a bracket for the front. Or, if it is from a Suburban or Blazer, are their floor pans different so it didn’t need one in the front ?

If anyone knows the answer...lemme know.

Also, if it does take a front bracket....does anyone have a spare ?

I have one like that from a Suburban and I don't have a front mount either. Floors are different between trucks and Burbs/Blazers. They just screw onto the floor in the Burbs/Blazers. This came out of my service manual for my 81, so maybe it will help.

I scoped one out of Burb as well.
The back just screwed to the floor in my pick up.
It bolted down just like the Burb.

So the rear bracket is not used on the pick up? Only the Suburban?

No specific answer as to what exact part was used from the GM factory but I yanked some buckets & the console (like pictured above) from an 89 Burb to swap over to my 89 CC dually.

After looking over the later style console it seemed 'cheap' compared to the earlier Squarebody versions so I found & used an earlier console w/the 89 seats. I used the factory 'Z' (stepped) mounting bracket from the Burb for the rear of the console. That required bolting the bracket to the console & then marking & drilling mounting holes in the floor.

The later console had no front bracket but the earlier unit would not sit as desired w/o something under it. To properly space it for level, I used 1" square .125 wall tube as a spacer. I put rivet-nuts in the floor pan, drilled oversized holes through the tube 'spacer', & used some extended length bolts to secure it in place. The spacers (front & rear) are hidden under the carpet & not visible.
