DIY/SB - anyone ever use
I'm somewhat intrigued by this, for the main reason of keeping down on the massive amount of dust that comes with using my portable blaster. I'm always skeptical of things that are too good to be true. As I'm in AZ, I'm not super concerned with water/bare metal, as it will most likely dry offer before any serious flash rusting occurs.
Anyone ever use/try it? https://diysandblast.com/products/x?...o570rT_YA5_2Pc |
Re: DIY/SB - anyone ever use
I have not but I hope someone has.
I watched the videos and read the reviews. I'm always skeptical of those pitches. I read in the reviews to buy the ten pack of the ceramic nozzles as they wear fast. Hopefully someone will post. S |

Here's a guy building a boat in his yard who's using one:

Re: DIY/SB - anyone ever use
I need one of those, and the boat guy looked like he was getting good results.
Makes me wonder if my electric pressure washer is enough or do I need the gas powered version??? |
Re: DIY/SB - anyone ever use
I've been thinking about getting one of these. For less then $40 I think it is worth a try!

Re: DIY/SB - anyone ever use
I have one and have used both sand and coal slag with it. Coal slag worked best but I had significant issues with water getting back into the suction tube and when that happens all bets are off.
I've been wanting to monkey with putting some sort of check valve in the sand suction line but have not gotten back to it. Perhaps I bought too cheap a unit but it was around $40. |
Re: DIY/SB - anyone ever use
I'm going to give one a try.
I will post back in the next couple of weeks to see how it works. I am normally not a gadget 'as seen on TV' kind of person but this one has me a little intrigued. And I am sure at some point I have pissed away $40 on something worse. Scott |
Re: DIY/SB - anyone ever use
I just ordered one. I will post the review later.
If anyone is going to order contact them and ask a question. They will send either a 15% or 20% off coupon code to use on your order. Scott |
Re: DIY/SB - anyone ever use
Anyone know what pressure is needed to make this contraption useful?

Re: DIY/SB - anyone ever use
I had some regular play sand in a bucket and gave it a whirl a few months ago. The sand had some moisture and it would not pick up/pulled thru the tube.
Fast forward til now. I was cleaning up around the shop and the bucket of sand was in the corner. It had dried completely. I gave the blaster a whirl. It worked way better than I expected. I cleaned a sort of large cast iron bell. The drawback is that in reality it is a two man job. One person to run the wand and another person to keep the sand pickup in the sand. It needs to be moved and re-positioned often. Overall, not a bad way to drop $20. Scott |
