Differences in bell-cranks between trucks with 6 cyl and 8 cyl engines??
I have a person wanting to purchase a frame to engine bell-crank for a 427 v-8 with 4 speed transmission he is installing in a 67-68 C10. Anyone know what this part should look like?? I have a couple or three, but not sure what they fit.
Any help / pictures would be appreciated! Jay |

Here is a couple of pics from the V8 one from my 72
You can measure the distance from the frame rail mount to the engine block as a double check that you can drop a big block and a small block on the same frame perches tells be it will fit All 67 72 K series trucks use the back mount position it is only in the C models that they move the engine front or back depending on 6 or 8 cylinder When I start putting my C10 together I will keep the motor back make room for the long water pump and serpentine belt setup When I talked to My Late cousin before he passed last month about his 69 with a 396 he kept the motor in the back position as well for better header room |

No authority by any means but I thought the BBC bell cranks or Z-bars were different than the SBC which is different from the IL6.

Also thought maybe because he was using a 427 that the crank would be entirely different or not? |

You should be able to find one here.
At least an idea what you need. They might even have an answer for you. https://www.4speedconversions.com/se...?keyword=Z+bar |

I can measure the one in my Green '67 in the morning, it has a 250 I6, and the '72 Dually, it has a 350 with the SM465 linkage in it. I will take pictures of the other ones I have for reference also. LockDoc |

L6 Z-Bars have to be longer. The L6 block is skinnier than the V8.

Six banger had a bracket similar to this to make up the distance.
Truck one was slightly different. https://www.ebay.com/i/153926914679?chn=ps V8 had a pivot ball that screwed into a threaded hole in the block. |

On my L6 truck --'68 C/10 Stepside, w/292, there's a ''U'' bracket that extends 4'' and then the ball stud pivot extends from there. |
