Stepside 10" Rear Wheels
1 Attachment(s)
So I saw a post online where a guy says he has 10" wide rear wheels (pic shown) is this possible?
255/50r16 (26”)rear tires with 10" wheels in back. https://tiresize.com/tiresizes/255-50R16.htm |
Re: Stepside 10" Rear Wheels
Cause if that's the case I could up-size to a 17" in the rear and go big-little front and rear.

Re: Stepside 10" Rear Wheels
I wouldn’t believe unless I measured them myself.
Don’t look like 10’s to me. Must have a deep bs. Read this. Easy to measure yourself. https://www.hotrod.com/articles/ccrp...heels-fitment/ And bigs/littles means tiny short 24-26 front, 30-32 back. Might look a bit goofy with a shorter sidewall on the back. |
Re: Stepside 10" Rear Wheels
I know I have 6 inches clearance on the inside of the wheel mounting space in the frame. To the fender lip I have 6 inches. However I forget how much less as it gets higher on the inside of the rear fender...

I just looked at that picture, there is light showing on the ground behind the wheels.

I guess I get all excited to buy stuff when I can. Calm deep breaths, I'll be home in a few months. |
Definitely let me know what you come up with. I was wanting to run a 12in wide tire on a 10in wheel. I previously picked up some original fleetside inner fenders , for the possibility of having to tub it a little.
My wheels will be factory wheels banded. I still need to figure out the wheel offset. Posted via Mobile Device |
Re: Stepside 10" Rear Wheels
What does "banded" mean?
|
Re: Stepside 10" Rear Wheels
Made wider, with a "band of steel."
|
Just as Skinny G said , I am just rolling a piece of 3/16 and welding a band in wheel to make it 10in wide and also change the offset to what is needed.
Which I don’t know what offset I will need. 12 in wide tire in a stepside fender well with a swapped in factory 71 GM12T. Posted via Mobile Device |
Re: Stepside 10" Rear Wheels
Did you know they make a handy tool to measure accurately.

Re: Stepside 10" Rear Wheels
I used to explain wheel backspace to people in 1974 and was looked upon as a heretic.

Just because it fits one combo doesn't mean it fits all combos; especially w/40+ year old vehicles. 'Ya need to know/understand the dimensions of your combo to make the best decisions. |
