Power brake booster for single master cyl?

Did not see one of these in the Truck Shop catalog. I really don’t want to split my brake lines. Anyone else ever add a booster for a single master cylinder?

It was a factory option, you can get them still at Advance auto.

I still have a 1 liner as my truck is bone stock.

I gave up on single pots. When I first brought my truck home the rear wheel cylinders started leaking. I was parked facing up hill and what I didn't know was my master leaked out all the fluid. I will say I had a nice surprise when I tried to stop. Good thing no cars were coming.

With a booster you'll want to buy capstainfabs booster bracket. Unless you can find and OEM firewall mounting plate.
I'm not sure if the bracket sold on online with the booster is the same though, maybe it is. https://shop.advanceautoparts.com/p/...rake%20booster

I think there was an OEM brake booster bracket for sale in the FS forum not long ago...if I remember right.

Please split the lines. On both my 65 C10 and my mint 65 Impala, I had failures. On the truck, it lost a rear cylinder. On the Impala, the master failed and leaked so slowly between the master and the booster that there was no drip. Level got low enough until the brakes failed, and I drove right into my tire rack as I pulled back into the garage. Got really luck both times. Both now have dual masters. Fabbed my own lines on the truck, and bought the pre-fab lines so it looks factory on the Impala.

Two times I've had the anchor pin for the brake shoe return springs snap off the backing plate. The wheel cylnder then blew apart and it was game over. The first time I thought it was a fluke. The second time I quit the single pot stuff forever. How come you don't want to split the line Mr. Hat?

You guys make a compelling point, therefore, I do believe I will convert to the dual master cylinder. It really does make sense. Thank you for your persistence.

First, I need to finish the motor and get her going.

Good decision, happy to hear it. We'll help you with the parts and the plumbing when you're ready.
