Body Mount Shims
I replaced my body mounts with new ones from Wes at Classic Heartbeat. I went from 3" spacers to stock height. When I reinstalled the front fenders I had to shim the front tub mounts by 3/8 on one side and 1/4 on the other side to get the gap between the fender and door even.
My question is about the other body mount bushings. How do I figure out how much to shim them? Do I split the difference? |

It looks like you should shim under the remainder enough to "table" (or close the gap I suppose) between the body and the mounts...

Thanks.

Re: Body Mount Shims
These trucks were built with a +- tolerance of 1/4", so the number of shims at each point is irrelevant, so having more on one side is probably OK. What determines how much shim you need is the door gaps.

Re: Body Mount Shims
The door gaps are good now, and the body mounts are all torqued to spec, so I think I'm OK. Thanks again.

Re: Body Mount Shims
What torque specs did you use? also are the rear mounts (lower bushing) compressed a whole lot? See pics in recent post on body bushings
