71 K10 Fuel Tank relocate
Good Morning,
In building my 71 K10 shortbed fleetside, i would like to install the fuel tank in the rear frame area using Tank's Inc 69 Camaro Fuel tank. I have searched the threads and found many threads i see that pertain to C10's not K10's as they all have trailing arms and springs vs. the leaf spring set up. I want the fuel filler to come out of behind the license plate area. Is there anyone out there that did this mod to their K10 that can share mounting ideas and pics to help me out? I am installing the original 350 turned into a 383 Stroker. (not pertinent but...) Thank you in advance. |
Re: 71 K10 Fuel Tank relocate
What you are trying to do will work. C10 or 4x4 will not make a difference in the frame in the rear where you want to put it. I used the Mustang tank and 90 ohms fuel sending unit from tanks Inc. and it worked perfect. I went with this tank because it is low profile and can not be seen hanging down, also fits between frame rails. Camaro tank is also a great choice.

Suburban blazer tanks fit well between the frame rail

Thank you everyone for the quick replies! I will call Rob @ No Limit thank you for that suggestion. Aslo, on the Mustang Tank from Tanks Inc, What year of Mustang tank did you get, and do you have any install pics where you did the straps, etc. Is it a rear fill so i dont have to deal with any fancy fuel filler? I just want to keep complicated down to a minimum.

Robs tank sits on the frame rails lip no straps. He does send bars though.
This was in my 68 step. I sold the truck before I finished it so I never got to try it out. Rob will help you with anything you need. I had him go ahead and do the fuel injection sending unit mount even though it was a carburetor just in case. No extra charge. I ended up not using the 2 extra bar straps. The frame rail held it nicly.:chevy: |
