Static drop suspension clearance
Got back to my 64 LB C-10 Rebuilt rearend 3;73 posi 4-inch drop w classic 4inch Hd springs shock relocation brackets w new shocks new trailing arm bushings, breaks n, and the adjustable Panhard bar. On the front, I cut 1.5 coils off. truck rallies and 235/70 r 15" around can not wait to see how it sits.
The question, when I adjusted the Panhard bar, I used my floor jack under rearend , all trucks rear weight on the jack/suspension. adjusted till centered using plumb bob off fender to measure to the axel. BUT when the weight is on it the rubber snubber is almost hitting the rear end. maybe 2.5-3" of travel till hits on the frame. As I researched before I started a 4-inch drop in the rear required NO adjustable Panhard bar( that was wrong, the stock one would not fit back in) and NO C notch. Do I cut the snubbers off leaving a 1/4 inch of rubber to hit on? or?? Am I looking at or doing something wrong?? Thanks Joelbert Thanks Joel |
Re: Static drop suspension clearance
I cut mine off. I left just enough bumper to let it hit. I used dropped coils in the back. No c notch. I added helper air bags in all 4 corners and my 71 LWB rides great. I run 20 lbs in them all the time. No bottoming out ever anymore. No Limit rear shock relocator kit and adjustable bar which by the way isn't adjustable unless you take one end loose. I love the way it rides.:chevy:
