Rear trailing arms ???
 

Had a strange clunking noise in the truck,and acceleration and braking.Checked the clutch,tranny,u joints,and calipers,no luck. Finally jacked truck off the ground fron the frame and saw a space between the trailing arms and the rear axle.Tightened up the u bolts and now no noise. Problem is, looks like the arms are starting to collapse.Anybody got some good used one for me ? Got a decent price from Ed at Mothertruckers,but I haven't dealt with him before.Any opinions board ? Wes or Paul, have you guys got any ? Probably will change coils springs as well, will need cups and hardware,looking for inner fenders also...Any opinions appreciated.

in the center of the arms there is a gap where the two halves meet, how much gap do you have exactly ? 3/16" or 5/16" or ?
i have a pair of trailing arms and pair of upper coil spring retainers that i dont need, im right below you so shipping wouldnt be so bad

I see that LMC is selling them brand new, but I don't know if you are a millionaire or not so.. I just got one off of a truck in Texas for $20 Almost burnt Texas down doing it but thats a different story.

Are you using thick washers on the u-bolts?? Are the nuts tring to split the two halfs of the trailing arms??

I dont mean a gap in the center, it was on the outer edge of the arms. And underneath the axle the arms are starting to collapse,no washers,figured that was the way it came...
Fast, are they for a short box ? How much ?Can you send me pics? Really cant afford new.
Any thoughts on suppliers ?

I believe the Trailing arms are the same in both Long box and short box, but I've been wrong before! LOL

I think Reumster is right. There are only one size trailing arms. You could buy new from LMC or maybe others. If you have the capability to sandblast and rebuild your old ones that may be the way to go. That is what I did. It took a little time and some 1/8 plate steel and some welding. My brother who has been an engineer with a major car manufacturer for over 30 years (I don't suppose I dare say Ford - just did) thought it looked all right.

I just bought a set on a 3/4 ton rolling chassis and their is no extra steel on the bottom of them. They may not be original.
