Moving grip surface of steering wheel fix?
Anybody have a fix for the common problem of the gripping surface of the steering wheel breaking loose from the inner steel ring and moving around under your hand when you use it?
I have a nice steering wheel I'd like to save if I could and just the top section is loose from a PO twisting the gripping area back and forth while driving so now it is loose in just that area. Thought about injecting a flexible glue of some kind like rubber cement or even something like Permatex Right Stuff but wasn't sure it would ever cure inside that rubber outer ring. Anybody every try something like that or something else that worked? |
Re: Moving grip surface of steering wheel fix?
They have a super glue that specifically bonds to plastics for plastic repair. Look for it in the hardware stores. I've used it and it works very well. I think you could probably drill some small holes in the back of the wheel and inject this super glue product. I think it will work to fix the problem you describe.
