Brake pedal spring re-install
1 Attachment(s)
Ok, I’m now sure I should have re-installed my brake pedal before the steering column but I didn’t.
I have the pedal re-installed but could really use some pointers on how to get the spring attached to the tab on the firewall. Seems there should be a tool with a notch in it to hold that spring loop, maybe I need to make one. I can get a screwdriver in there and push the loop almost into place but no way to have enough hands and room to make it catch. First post from phone, hopefully it works. Any help is appreciated Posted via Mobile Device |
Re: Brake pedal spring re-install
do you have a set of brake tools? Maybe those can give you slightly more leverage?
I installed mine with the column out so I couldn't give you an objective answer. |

Easier to pull it down than push it up

Re: Brake pedal spring re-install
You can loop a coat hanger or wire around the open loop of the spring and pull on it. Downward...

Re: Brake pedal spring re-install
If anyone ever searches for the same issue, here is what I did.
Took out the main pivot tube at the top of the brake pedal while keeping brake pedal attached to the actuator rod ( rod going through firewall) then I could pivot top of brake pedal towards firewall greatly shortening length needed to stretch spring. Attached spring to firewall then re-installed main pivot tube which then became a wrestling match if it’s own but would have been easier if you have someone to guide it into the drivers side of the fixture it mounts into. I didn’t but eventually got it all together. Mounted the button and now onto something else. |
