1960 clutch pedal problem
The shaft on my clutch pedal has the rectangular bar on the end instead of the splines, and it has broken it seems like my only option is to replace the whole clutch brake pedal assembly, or weld the old one, has anyone had success in welding that bar back on?

Do you have a picture of what you are describing?

The splined shaft is bigger in dia it will not work without changing the whole assembly.

Re: 1960 clutch pedal problem
As long as you vee groove the joint out, so you get good penatration. It would probably be fine, as long as that is a weldable steel. That darker brown finish, ( if that's the natural finish ) rather than Grey. Makes it look very similar to 1144 sp, which doesn't have good welding properties.
It looks like a pretty simple part, at least on that one end. You might look into having a local machinist making you a duplicate of it. As one option. |
Re: 1960 clutch pedal problem
did you get it sorted out?

Re: 1960 clutch pedal problem
Yes I did thank you, I had it welded and it is doing fine.I determined that what caused it to break is that the pushrod that goes into the clutch side of the master cylinder, had somehow turned itself on it's threads and became to long causing it to bottom out in the master cylinder.
