Door shutting adjustment issue
Im trying to line up my doors after some cab metal work. I have the body lines nice and straight but When I close the doors there is about 1/4 inch of free play in and out. It doesnt matter where I position the striker plate on the body, i can still push the door in too much. Shouldn't the door close tight without weather seals? The doors on my jimmy are rock solid when they close.

Re: Door shutting adjustment issue
I would audition the rubber bumpers and weather strip (maybe just use an old piece on the striker side) to see if that resolves the free play you now have.
I played around with my striker an door latch plate quite a bit to get it all right. Now with the rubber in, its snug. I even have to slightly push the driver's door to lock with key. My sense is this will settle as the rubber conforms more to the door & truck. YMMV |

Re: Door shutting adjustment issue
Sounds like you got them about right, put door seals on and then adjust striker for tightness or looseness . If you want them tight before seals you will have to slam the hell out of door to shut after seals are on
