88-95 Bench Seat question
 

How much of a difference does the 88-95 OBS seat make in terms of leg room? Being 6'4" i'm looking for any gains that i can get but dont want to go through the trouble of sourcing one and doing the upholstery if its negligible.

To me it is more comfortable (6'1"), but not a dramatic difference in leg room.

I am only 5’8” so leg and head room is not a huge concern for me but I do find the seat in my 67 overall more comfortable than stock and I like the head rests just in case I’m ever rear ended my head won’t hit the back glass.

I can't speak directly to a 67-72 but in a Square Body I can tell an appreciable difference. I am 6'1" and the OBS seat (on square body tracks) gave me roughly an inch in both directions. It's been almost 20 years since I did it, but I like it very much.

I have one in my 72 GMC thread below. I wouldn't say it offers a bunch more room... maybe an inch. But the benefit is that it is one of the most comfortable OEM seats you can get, and it has a thin back on it as opposed to most aftermarket ones so you can put it all the way to the back window.

I am assuming you do not have tilt. If you are thinking of best value for your dollar I would invest in it. They are a little expensive but really cool in one of these old trucks. As a bonus, you can get them shortened.

And as mentioned above: a less dishy steering wheel can offer more room.

Here is mine . I believe it is frim a 90 model. Had it recovered when it was putin truck avou 15 years ago.definitely better ghan stock to me..

Thank you all for the responses, helpful. I have a line on a Cheyenne seat ( which is a vinyl covered foam and not a the glued cover to the foam, which can make the reupholstery process a little better . I will try it out, anything to get a little bit more comfort and even and inch of room will help. I'm almost thinking of cutting down the brake and clutch pedals to reposition the pads in a better position.

dagnabbitt, the first thing i did when i aquired the truck was put a tilt in it. made a world of difference, its stock length thought..
