There are several different 15 inch size tires that will work on these trucks. Your best bet is to look at the trucks on this site to get an idea of the look you like.

275/60-15 on 8 inch wheels is a popular choice on a lowered truck.

Here is mine. Stock ride height with 31X10.5-15 tires on 8 inch rally wheels.

I wonder if that combo will work on a 15x6 steel wheel.

I second this ^^^

It’s my favorite size if you’re going for a factory look.

A 275 is not recommended for anything under 9 inch but people like myself have them on 8s you end up with a slightly ballooned sidewall. A 6 is way too narrow for that size it’s not recommended for 235s either

This is for an everyday vehicle if you driving a few thousand a year a 235 will work on a 6 inch rim

I like 4 tires the same on my trucks. In the picture with P01 Wheel Covers I had P235/75 15 tires with 15 x 7 rallys and that extra rim inch just ,to me, made the tries look right on the truck. Pink & White truck had 255/70's on 15 x 8 Rally rims and both trucks were stock height. Then I went a bit radical, for me anyway, and lowered the truck witha 2 1/2 dropped spindle up front and 3 inch drop rear spring and added 255/60 17 inch tires on 17 x 8 rims which are within a 1/4 inch of the height of 235/75 15's but the rim stands out and it fills the wheel wells better. If your keeping the truck long term you'll be changing things as time goes by.

Before you buy tires, buy a set of 8inch wheels.
Then you can pull away from a stoplight on wet streets with NO problem.
It will make the biggest difference in several ways of traction and handling.
Pick up a set of rallys or order some Wheel Vintiques for stock look.
Then buy a set of 265's or whatever and you will be happy for years to come. JMHO

.

Back in the 80s I ran 275/60/15 on all 4 corners with manual drum brakes and manual steering on a stock ride height 68 stepper.

It was just how I rolled back then. It looked good and worked just fine.

YMMV,

235/75 and 255/70 are pretty much the same height, 29 inches. so they will looks somewhat the same from the side. If you want to run the stock 6"wide wheel, I would go with the 235/75. For a 7" or 8 " Id go with the 255/70 They tend to fit the wheel better. 275/60 on 8" wheel looks good, but they are shorter (28"). AS mentioned For all around I like the 255/70 on 8" wheel for a cruiser style truck. If it is going to be used as a truck the 31x10.50x15 on 8" wheels looks great to me, but are way taller than others (31").
