1964 GMC 1000 axle flip kit

I’ve been lurking around here forever and I can usually find what I need just by researching this site. However, I can’t seem to find anything about this. Does anyone have a source for an axle flip kit for a 1964 GMC? Plenty of stuff for Chevrolets but nothing for the GMC’s with leaf spring rear ends.

Take some measurements to verify, but you may be able to use an axle flip kit for a squarebody. If your axle tube diameter is the same as a truck 12 bolt from the 70s, and the leaf spring width is the same, in theory, it should work

Pre-73 GM truck leafs were narrower (2.25 vs. 2.5") IIRC. A later model flip kit might require some trimming or tweaking but could provide some useful parts.

The squarebody frame is taller and narrower than the Gen 1 frame, A flip kit for one won't work for the other.
Get some 1/4 x 4" flat bar and build your own.

I'm curious.... How does the frame rail differences between the two eras have an impact w/the flip kit method of lowering?

Re: 1964 GMC 1000 axle flip kit

I was referring to installing a C-notch. I neglected to mention my 66 GMC will need a notch to flip the axle, because I'll get a 5" drop, but only have about 2" of travel before the flipped axle hits the frame.
The C-notch method will be the same between generations, but the frame dimensions are different. So, pre-cut pieces for a squarebody will not fit the frame of a 60-65.
Sorry for the incomplete information.

Here's something that might be useful:
76 C10 12-bolt axle tube dia = 3"
Spring width = 2-1/2"
66 Dana 44 axle Tube dia = 2-5/8"
Spring width = 2-3/8"

Sorry for the late reply to the thread, but I actually have a flip kit that will fit your truck that I'd be willing to let go. I wound up flipping my spring perches and re welding them on my setup. Only thing that's missing from the kit is the u bolts, but those are pretty easy to come by. Also in reference to your notch question, a 64-66 c10 notch kit should work fine for you. I used that generation step notch on mine and it works great.
