Frame swap questions

Im sure this has been asked before but Im hoping someone knows right off the top of their head. And I realize some of you might think this is a bad idea but that isnt the question.

A friend just called me and asked this. He wants to know if you can take body off of a 68 K Burb and put it on a 72 C coil spring truck chassis. Wondering what all he has to change.

Then he wants to know if he can put a 71 truck cab and box on the 68 K Burb chassis. Ending up with a 4x4 truck. Again what all needs to be changed.

I think hes hoping maybe only the rear frame horns and body mount points need to be changed for both of these swaps to work.

Thanks for any insights!

Re: Frame swap questions

Park Brake System (handle vs foot) Throttle linkages (cable vs rod) Rear light harness is routed different for the truck vs burb, Fuel tank and lines, If I am right there is a difference in the rear mounting tabs for the C and K Burbs. My buddy has a K and I can ask him because we went through that and he came and checked a C frame I had. We have both frames and it wont be hard to compare them.

I know that the Suburban rear frame horns are different than the pickup ones to put the sport bumper in the proper location for a Suburban. Mounting of a standard step bumper requires modification of the Suburban frame.

I also remember reading here some time back that the shape of the frame rails under the box of a pickup are quite different than a Suburban.

Good Stuff!! I have a coil spring 2wd truck frame and my friend has a 4wd burb frame, we can check the rear frame rails to see if there are issues with the bed mounting as stated above if you want me to.

Ill ask my buddy first, I appreciate the effort but you dont need to do anymore leg work (yet lol). Someone he has been dealing with for awhile offered him a trade for a later model (90s I think) 3/4 ton truck he's been sitting on. Stuff he wants to trade is the 68 burb 4x4 a 71 truck cab and a bunch of other 67-72 truck stuff. Sounds like the Burb has some rust issues so he's not going to make a decision until he sees it in person and that wont be until after the holidays.
