Good or bad idea, 2000 6,0+4L80 in 1990 Suburban

Hello all,

Have not been around for a long time.

I have 1990 Suburban 2500 4x4, imported from USA in 2012 (I am in Bulgaria). It is my looong term project sitting in garage :-)

I have had idea to swap TH400 with 4L80 but never got there.

Now, I might have opportunity to buy donor 2000 GMC Yukon 2500, 4x4, with Vortec 6.0 and 4L80 combo here, for the price of rebuilt 4L80 imported from USA.

I am thinking, is it good idea to swap engine and tranny in 1990 body?

I know it will involve a lot of cabling, moving ECU and so on.

I will appreciate your feedback.

Ivo

How will you address the transfer case?

Hi Shifty One,

As far as I know, transfer case I currently have is direct bolt on to 4L80. I have NP241C with manual shift. I know that drive shafts have to be reworked.

Best regards,
Ivo
