help ID intake ports chevy 250
1 Attachment(s)
Hello,
1966 c10 250 non integrated head. I've been looking online and in the forums for some information on what these two ports do on on the intake. I believe one is for a coolant line that helps warm up the intake. the other I'm unsure. Some pictures online show 1, some 2 and some neither. I live in the desert so not sure i need the first one. Can both of these be capped and what is their exact usage. In the pic its the two in the lower left hand corner. One is capped now and the other has an odd flare fitting that is open. thanks Kris |
Re: help ID intake ports chevy 250
After some further research and asking around on the net, the top port is just a mounting bolt. I had to pb blast and heat it to remove but its a dead end so confirmed. Just have to figure out the lower. I Believe its some type of coolant intake that helps heat the head but it doesn't make sense to have an in without and out.

Ok, for those that find this later, the bottom is def a coolant line. There is a T fitting that should be there that routes from the smaller heater core line to the water pump. the T makes sense as it allows the coolant in and out. the Odd connection that is on mine was the confusing part. Confirmed also it is there to help the intake warm up on cold starts. So is it necessary in NM probably not.
