The owner was nowhere to be found..but I have to say, it LOOKED like crap. I THOUGHT he did it up nice (4 link) but it's Cantilever isn't it? The bed is stupid too, it's a lifted bedfloor...

Camera on the ground in front of the truck...if you'll notice, he's actually LAYING on the part of his tranny crossmember that dips down under the catalytic converter.

Prerunner1982 02-07-2004 11:05 PM

lifted bed floor=body drop... cab floor was probably raised as well...

That's what my friend thought..cab floor was stock...like I said, this truck was ghey.

low 84 02-07-2004 11:11 PM

looks like 2 link rear and looks like the front of the truck was Z'd. thats why hes on the tranny x member and not the lca's

Prerunner1982 02-07-2004 11:18 PM

cant imagine they would body drop the bed and not the cab.. the read for doing that is to lower the truck with out modifying the suspension.... the body lines still line up.. sorta..body seems high in the middle.

TIMSPEED 02-07-2004 11:21 PM

I have heard of people doing a stock floor pan bodydrop...but this is stupid. I could bag my truck and lay rocker without doing any major mods, and it'd be nice clean and easy.

Prerunner1982 02-07-2004 11:22 PM

ok with is Zed that might explain the stock cab floor...

You are correct. Look at the top pic in front of that wonderful valve and plumbing nightmare. You can see where the frame was cut, raised, and gusseted. I wonder if his speedometer works:rolleyes:

TIMSPEED 02-07-2004 11:59 PM

Anyone notice his dump valves are galanized plumbing pipes? hahaha!

Not to be rude or anything...

BUT. You posted pics of this truck you saw at a show just to talk smack about it? Whats wrong with stock exhaust? Theres nothing wrong with raising the bedfloor to not need to cut the bed. Some people just like it that way, its cleaner to them.

Yes the fuel cell is kinda dinky, but whatever. Its not THAT bad of a truck and it looks like a work in progress.

low 84 02-08-2004 12:10 AM

tim look in your 3rd pic. see those welds on the frame? what he did was cut the front subframe off and move it up a few inches and weld everything back together. the tips of the frame rails then have to be cut off then lowered back on to keep the bumper nd core support in the right spot.

I'm not bagging on it. Stock exhaust is ok..the bedfloor IS cut..you can see where he first just cut the center out of it, then didn't like that, and welded it back up and lifted it all up. And the fake bedfloor didn't go to the end of the bed, there was a 3" gap. Also, it looked like a body lift under the truck...which is what I THINK they used to raise the bedfloor...

phantom dually 02-08-2004 01:22 AM

At first glance it looks like a good piece of work in progress. That truck could be cleaned up with little effort and be a great SAFE cruiser!!

Low87on20s 02-08-2004 12:32 PM

I like the stance of the truck in the first pic. I also like the seats with the shoulder harness in them. Did you get any pics of the interior?

If you think this is true, and is so easily done, why is your truck still way up in the air. you will have a hard time laying rocker " without any major mods" why is it that you are talking $hit about this guys truck and picking it apart. Lets see some pics of every little detail of your truck, ya know just so that it's fair.

phantom dually 02-08-2004 01:12 PM

I really doubt that these trucks will lay rocker without any major mods. The crossmember will hit first then you have the tranny member to worry about. After that you have to notch the rear to get any size of rim under the truck. Dont let the pics fool you. The guy actually has alot of time in his truck but IMO he didnt take the time to clean it up as much as I would have. I think that the crossmember mod as well as other mods required are major mods and cost $$$$$

SCOTI 02-08-2004 01:42 PM

It could also be possible that he got it finished minutes before that show/cruise & was just anxious to be part of the group so he zip tied stuff in place just to be able to test everything out.

It may not be up to your high standards but opinions are like.....

Some stink, some don't.

Actually no you can't. Even with a sectioned crossmember and bags you're still gonna be about 1-1.5" from laying rocker.

That's what a lot people are using. I personally wouldn't but it's all up to what you can afford. If those things can handle plumbing and all the other crap they are rated at they're fine for street use as long as the pressure is right.
