Swapping tranny: length Question
I have a '72 C-10 with a 350 ( in the 350 position) and a th350 tranny that is the correct one for the truck. I don't know if it is a long or short tailhousing. I'm pretty sure it is a short, as it doesn't look too long. My question is this:
If I get a 700r4 ( I need the overdrive) how much longer is the tranny? Do I need to move the crossmember back some? I'm trying to determine if I will need a different driveshaft. Thanks again for the info. Shawn |
Sorry, I forgot about the FAQ section> Thanks anyway!

forget the 700r4 and go with a 2004r bolts right up no need to cut driveshaft just move the crossmember back and it bolts right in a stronger all round tranny

HMMMM, don't know alot about those trannys. What are the advantages/ disadvantages of 200r trannys over 700r4??

O.K. I called around and I can get a 200r4 pulled out of an Olds for 150.00 Should I jump on that or what? He is going to verify the torque bolts up flat to the flex plate, and call me tomorrow.
