On this side of the pond, a good many people seem to think it's a smart thing to drive around with their parking lights on from late afternoon until it's almost totally dark. It's been illegal in Louisiana since 1965 or so, but they still do it. Amber parking lights at least let you know you're dealing with an idiot, but several late-model GM products use white ones that are spaced much closer together than the headlights. I almost nailed one of those head-on a couple of years ago.
