Personaly if you replace the cab or just the bad area I would make sure you get a good rust product up in side their before repainting. I like to tip the cabs over and shoot por15 (or =) up the A-posts,thru the visor holes, light hole in the rear of the roof and up the B-posts as well. Just soak the roof area and the A & B posts with product to treat and seal all the metal and then clean out the drip rails and do the same out their. This should help give a life time of protection since the factory did nothing to help make these areas last. I had to replace my California cab because of way to much rust and when I fould a good solid replacement for it I built the Tip & Flip just so I could get into very area posible before spending $$$ on paint and labor only to have it happen again. People always think of rust treating other parts of their truck but this is one of the most over looked area on these things.
