Kinda like your second suggestion, seems easier to shave the SS strips. Thanks for the idea, wasn't sure where to go with that area, but that will hide the end grain nicely.
On a side note, this morning I finally have my door hanging on the passenger side. Yaaahoooo, what a b!tch, fought me all the way.... J.
