The coils on these trucks don't stretch very much. You could take the lower control arm loose & stand back if you had to. You can usually find a jack in the trunks of cars in these pull it yourself lots. You could raise the truck with one of their A-frames with chain hoist & set the lower arm down on a wheel or something.

I remember seeing a fellow do that on one of his trucks that was up on blocks. He tied a chain around the coil spring and tied it to the control arm/frame. He then slowly removed the nut on the lower ball joint until it was off... Now here is where I would be leery. The spring tension could pop the ball joint and cause injury. In his case it was stuck and he had to bang it with a mallet.
