Hey Mike,These days guys can get confused when you say 3spd.It always meant 3spd manual to me (still does).But,with o/d automatics being the current norm in later vehicles alot of people think of traditional automatic trannies like TH350s and TH400s.When talking trucks I say 3spd,4spd,Powerglide(P/G),TH350,or TH400.That`s what was available back then in these trucks and there never was confusion.If I`m talking newer o/d automatics I use their names,like 700r4 or 4L80E.This is to help all keeps things clearer here.
About your question:
You should be able to use that 1/2t stuff.There is nothing different in the configuration from 3/4t and 1/2t.
