I had the exact same problem two weeks ago. Fixed it last weekend. It's referred to as a dimmer switch (I dunno why, but guessing the term "hi/lo beam switch" was too much to say/print in a manual ). After a trip to the closest parts store (& $24 later), the part was swapped in a matter of minutes. I will say it's not EASILY accessible, but with an open-ended wrench, it's not as difficult/tedious as replacing an ignition lock switch. Found the old switch didn't "click" anymore, and the harness connector was slightly melted. Guess 22 years of service was all it could handle.
