Just for clarification.......was not sure you had understood the reasoning behind welding a nut on the end of the broken bolt.
The idea is to weld a nut onto the end of the broken off piece to aid in extraction. You cannot replace it if it is stuck in place. It would be the best method of extracting the bolt.
