The 4L60e can only handle a certain horsepower. We are going for the 525 to 650hp range in two stages (of time and build) and want to make sure that we dont destroy something along the way. I hear that the 80 will handle that with out modification and is a good financial option.
You are probably right, mine is higher. For me I plan on running stockish numbers (around 300) and don't need the beef of the 80. Plus, my 6.0 was a 99 iron head version. Those heads and the 80 trans meant LOTS more weight for me. A 60 with aluminum heads and all my C4 suspension means HUGE weight savings. My hope is that this truck will have a good power / weight ratio despite a nearly stock engine.
