One other idea is this: I have a 1979 305 engine w/dualjet 210 (worst hp rating ever at 130)...I was thinking of swapping to vortec heads w/fuel injection. What could I get outta that setup if 350 vortec heads work on the 305 bore? I'm thinking at least 250-280 hp w/gobs of torque. Or would a 283 crank work w/the 305 journals? What would it end up in cu in size?
I'd mill those Vortec heads if you're gonna use them on a 305. The chambers should be larger than the 305's and will lower an already low compression ratio.
And the 283 crank is not gonna fit without journal spacers and you'll have to change your rods also. 283's are small journal and 305's are large. A 307 crank would work. It's basically a lrg jrnl 283 crank
