I did that MOD on my truck and i dont have a problem with the headlites or the wiring overheating.
you do how ever need to put a relay on the green wire that is on your original harness and then wire it through to the brown wire (i believe it is brown) that is common between the low and high beams headlites themselves. then all 4 will work on high and the highs will turn off when you click the switch.
