Those are not cons of a properly done shave job. It sounds like the jacka$$ that did your buddies truck didn't finish the job. After you shave the doors, you then add solenoids to actuate the latching mechanism inside the door and a popper to push the door open when the latch is disengaged. It's a great mod when done right. Just do it right.
