My Blazer sat for 7 years and I was concerned about accumulated junk in the tank. I put a clear filter on the fuel line (temporarily) and topped the tank off with fresh gas. I watched it for the first week or so after I got it running and then changed it. I haven't had any problems.
If you really feel like you need to drain it, you could disconnect the fuel line and make sure it's in a container that will hold all the fuel that will come out. Then pressurize the tank with air. I've used a nozzle with a rag around it to seal it off. I wouldn't use more than about 10 PSI.
