Re: What did you do today not on your truck...
Almond Harvest is all but over, some Walnuts still going on, 2 months of harvest dust everywhere.
We had our first rain overnight and everything got a good soaking so I rolled the 40 out and gave her a bath. Spent about 2 hours inside and out. Drove her to the local (best burger in the valley) mom and pop smash burger joint. Failed to get a pic when the sun was shining so I took this instead after I got home. Squeaky Clean Again! |

Lookin' good! I sold my '39 a couple of years ago. It was set up the same as yours.

Re: What did you do today not on your truck...
Nice '40 Ford! I had a '40 Chevy in that general body shape- a businessman's coupe. 350/400/3.90 diff with a front straight axle. Light blue with a dark blue Belgian velvet interior. Sold it to pay for my wife's engagement ring. It turned mid-14's in the 1/4, which was pretty scary, because it tended to float at high speed.

Re: What did you do today not on your truck...
Thanks for all the compliments.
I fellow I ran around with in high school had a Forty Two Door Sedan 327 Cross Ram, 30-30 Duntov, M-21 4-Speed, GM 12 bolt 410 posi. It was nothing super lightning fast.. but boy did it sound good. I always loved his 40 and a 40 Coupe was my fav, so a little later in life I built us one. The rear has a Chassis Engineering Parallel leaf spring kit, I'm still buggy sprung in the front, split wishbone with a Henry axle heated and dropped 4" with 70 Mustang disc brakes adapted. It's a nice cruiser with heat and A/C that drives very nice too. |

Re: What did you do today not on your truck...
that parallel leaf swap makes a world of difference. I have a 33 Ford pickup that my grandfather and I did that swap on. Night and day. He kicks himself for not doing that sooner with how much it improved the ride. Truck original had a set of split bones and a true hammer dropped axle that was then also drilled, but something was slightly off so, replaced the axle with a new forged unit and went to hair pins and a vega box with cross steering.
Are you still running the stock steering or a F1 style box and drag link or did you swap to cross steer. That change was the biggest improvement up front.
