Re: 56 Mild Custom Build

Mocking up the subwoofer box. Keeping the stock gas tank location and bench seat but still want nice deep bass!!
Gas tank cover, the base for the sub box

Subwoofer box mock up going with 2 JL Audio 6w3v3 in a ported box, 6x8s rear, 6.5 componets and 4 inch center speaker for the front. All will be powered by a JL 5 channel amp.

Still working on mocking up the audio.Got to figure out where to put the 6x8s. Box will be covered in black suede.

I have to second what Kim asked. When I saw your one piece window picture, I raised an eyebrow. Hmmmm.

Re: 56 Mild Custom Build

All the kits are the same. They come wih the glass and the window channel felt and they just tell u to take out the wing window and install the channel felt. The problem with that is there's no metal channel for the felt to to glue to so it just hangs there loose in the front of the glass. Also where the window attaches to the regulator is to short so the window always pops out when rolled all the way down. And since the one piece window now is angled in the front ( the original window is vertical ) u have to angle the original metal channel back a few degrees and also fab up a new metal channel in the front of the door and angle it with the rear channel. There is no kit out there that works right u have to fab it up yourself. If any one lives in the Houston area I can do it for u.

Nice start, and tremendous progress for less than a month. What part of the Houston area are you in?

Driver fender. Pulled and hammered out a few dings. Welded up some cracks. Fabed up a missing brace. First coat of bondo about to block it out.

My dad blocking out the fender and door

Me mocking up the AC. AC and heater lines will be routed thru the kick panel and behind the inner fender.

Daddy's little helpers

Yep I need a truck. Getting the board for the door and kick panels

Re: 56 Mild Custom Build

Look at all the pretty colors

Cleaning the frame getting ready to paint it found this under a pile of grease. Wtf? Why would some one do that? Maybe for a big block?

Re: 56 Mild Custom Build

New parts came in today

Bondo work done on passenger fender. Just sprayed it with ecthing primer. Set it aside, will do final primer and block sanding once mounted.

Installed passenger lower door hinge panel, original one was pretty mangled. Install door to double check and see if I lined it up right... Which I did

The real trick is getting it all to line up back on the frame.

Re: 56 Mild Custom Build

Got the frame painted and the cab under coated. Finally the cab is in the frame so I can finish up the body work and get it in primer.
