1960-66 Big Truck Rubber Floor Mat
I thought I might post this just in case anybody else wanted to have some info.
I recently started cleaning up my 1960 C60 Viking. It didn't have a floor mat in it, and reproductions are not available for the big trucks. The fitment can be a bit of an issue since the transmission access panel (tunnel, hump, whatever you call it) is fairly flat with minimal rise. I did some research and found one that I thought might fit pretty well for my truck. Its not "exact", but I think it turned out pretty nice for an item that is intended to be used in a different truck. I used the floor mat that is supposed to fit a 67-72 model year truck with the small hump. I noticed those trucks had a really low transmission tunnel cover and I know the cab dimensions as far as floor pans etc. were pretty close. It took a little tugging and stretching hear and there, but I am happy with the results. I ordered the mat from Classic Parts Part No. 39-033. The shop was dark, but here are the photos of the almost completed installation. Jonathon

What did you think of the quality of the 'rubber' material?

I think its a good quality for what I paid for it. I plan on buying one from them for my 62 when I get to that point. I hope that helps. Jonathon

Re: 1960-66 Big Truck Rubber Floor Mat
Yours looks like the same pattern as oem. There's a lot of threads about the quality of the after market material failing within a years time. I managed to buy soft pliable originals from the parts for sale on this forum. Mike.

Re: 1960-66 Big Truck Rubber Floor Mat
Mike,
The parking brake boot in the pictures was in fact a NOS item. While they were NOS, I could see why they were missing on most surviving trucks equipped with the handbrake. Others might have different experiences but the quality of the handbrake boot was relatively poor. The are very thin and have a very little accordion folds, so they don't flex with the movement of the lever as they should. It's hard to see in the pictures but the NOS boot and hold down ring isn't actually fastened to the floor. I left the ring loose so it could just slide across the floor mat. I tried to do it the factory way but didn't have success. If I were to do the project again, I would find a quality boot that is taller and thicker so that the hold down ring could be fastened to the floor and boot flex with full movement of the brake lever as designed. Jonathon

Re: 1960-66 Big Truck Rubber Floor Mat
I'm pretty certain the transmission lever boot was a re-pop for a 60-66 truck. I most likely got that from one of the big box restoration sources like Parts of America, LMC or Brothers.
It fit decent enough. I never did a hold down ring with that one either. The fit of the hole was snug enough that it stayed down on the floor mat pretty well. I have had the experience of the reproduction stuff not lasting very long. Especially if it sees any sun. If I did the job again, I think I would just use the 67-72 boots and hold down rings. Those boots are available and the transfer case boot is nice and tall and does flex enough to accommodate the travel of the parking brake lever. I think they would fit nicely and functional.
