My new toy !!!

Let me start off by saying that I am totally stoked about this car
Yes, it may not be a truck but I think you can understand why

I really am not a car person, but there are a few that I really like & this is one of them !!! it's a long story, but I have been after this particular car for about 3-5 years !!! & today my dream came true !!!

It's a 69 Camaro Z/28

I'm still working with the owners daughter to try & find some of the missing parts
It's missing: drivers side head, intake, carb, valve covers, trans, & drive shaft (that I know of)

It's a little rough, but I love it !!!

It was only driven for 4-5 years, before it was parked !!!

Re: My new toy !!!

This had to have been one of the hardest loads we've ever done !!! (mainly just getting the trailer into position, the car drug onto the trailer no prob)

When we got it to the shop

Engine bay & busted block

Congrats on a great find. Is that the original 302 that's broke? I would be trying to save it too if it would make it a #'s matching car. Lucky dog!!!

Re: My new toy !!!

I concur, thank you for saving such a primo piece of American muscle. maybe one of my all time favs! doesn't look too ate up with rust either. looks like a black plated Cali Camaro to boot. also looks like power brakes, probably disc and optional rear bumper guards. If that's an original green exterior, well let's just say I really will hate you!!!! lol

you my friend are a lucky person. you need to go play the lottery this weekend!!!

The owner bought it in Cali & moved back to Texas a long time ago & brought the car with her

So it's a Cali car, but has been in Texas most of it's life

The car is all original, minus the missing parts & some engine mods

All Z/28's had power discs in the front, as well as the bumper guards (just bigger on the Z/28's)

It has a perfect trunk & the floors are pretty good, the only bad rust is around the front & rear glass

Yes, it is the original 302 with double hump head(s) (minus the obvious big pistons)
I shall be giving it my best shot to save the engine & find the missing parts: drivers side head, intake, carb, valve covers, trans, & driveshaft
But if not, it'll be a fun car even not numbers matching

Spray-Bomb,

I'm not messing with you, but I remember buying and storing a Muncie-Saginaw 4 speed with the original Hurst shifter many moons ago. I bought it to go with the freshly rebuilt Hi-Perf passenger 396 long block that is probably located in the same storage building. The engine has also been sitting in storage since the rebuild, which is sad considering I rebuilt it in High School and I graduated in 1993.

I know without a doubt that the 396 is still there (albeit with peeling paint, shame on me) but I don't have direct access to the storage unit right now. I just called Dad and he said that he would go looking for it tomorrow or Monday. I seem to remember that it was either newly rebuilt (at least a 11 years ago, mind you) or it had been "gently used".

The really sad part is that the parents may have sold the tranny in a bleak financial moment to put groceries in the fridge while I was in the Marine Corps.

I got out of the Marines in 2002 if you want a time frame for reference. I don't know if it is still there in the storage building(s) but if it is, I'll let you know.

The good part is that if that transmission IS still there, it's located about 45 miles west of Fort Worth, in a little town called Mineral Wells.

Yeah, then he can sit around and figure out how much his 69Z was worth if he hadn't done that

I was teasing -- hence the LOL ---- however, my car is worth as much as it sits as a nice restored Z-car or more --- the money is just put into different places. its not "tubbed", which implies a back-half hack job,-- its got a full cro-mo chassis NHRA certified to Pro-Mod specs (6 seconds) Dont even ask about the motor (laughs)

Ask another drag racer how much a Pro/mod car costs (but in all fairness, i probably wouldnt do that to a real Z either)
