What headers will fit?

What all headers will fit my '84 w/ a 350ci? I'm looking for some under $500. I want the ceramic coating, and 3" collectors. Any help would be greatly appreciated!

I think if you look on Jegs or Summit Racings website you can find a Heddman Elite series header that will be what you are looking for .

Re: What headers will fit?

My brother has hedman shorties on his '55 belair and says they have a different port shape from other headers so you have to buy their gaskets and they only make paper which blow out easy. Is it true that camaro or nova headers will work?

Re: What headers will fit?

you bet chevelle, camaro monte carlo headers will fit. I have coated hedman car headers on mine. If you sit low, they are great for gound clearance. They will also fit 67-72 pickups also. here is a picture, hope it helps!

So what's the difference with them concerning ground clearance? Do they not come all the way down and turn back like long tubes for other models>

Re: What headers will fit?

which ever brand you choose, be sure to get them with 3/8 flanges. i have long tube hedmans with 1/4 flanges and blowing header gaskets like a madman. i've tried everything short of changing them out...just my 2 cents.........

Re: What headers will fit?

you got it. if you look at the picture of mine under the hood, you can see that where the header goes past the frame. well the collector is right there. they basically go back at a 45 degree angle and stop before turning to go under the truck. A good exhaust guy can tuck the head pipes right up against the floor.

Re: What headers will fit?

I run 3/4 lengthe Chevelle headers. The work great. The passenger side is a little close to the starter.

Re: What headers will fit?

Thanks, I appreciate all the help. I would like to tuck them closer to the floor cause I plan on lowering it 3/5. I think I might try chevelle headers.

Re: What headers will fit?

My buddy just bought some "house brand" headers from either Summit or Jegs (can't remember which). They were full length and were advertised as fitting his truck. The idea was to run header-mount glass packs with turn-downs on the end of the muffler.

Well, the headers did physically fit the truck, but the outlet of the headers aimed the mufflers down at a rearward angle which would have made the glass packs dangle real low to the ground. Whats worse is the passenger side glass pack would have rattled against the tranny crossmember, and the driver side wouldn't go on at all because the header outlet was aimed directly at the crossmember. There was also issues with the Edelbrock intake/carb combo that was advertised as having everything you need, but didn't, but that's a story for another time.

My question is- does anyone make a full length header where the outlet aims the exhaust parallel with the floor, and maybe be up enough that the exhaust would run above the crossmember? My buddy ended up making his own exhaust, but when I do mine, I want to use header mount glass packs with turndowns right before the rear axle- it sounded great that way on my old Nova.

Re: What headers will fit?

due to the cross member they are hard to find unless you modify the cross member but the hedmens work the best

Re: What headers will fit?

I started with hight temp coated headdman's (not ceramic) they turned color and dulled while storing them on the motor/frame (out in the moisture). Plus the longtubes hung way low on my 68 2wd.

I switched over to Sanderson Ceramic coated mid lengths from ECE and LOVE them. Fit great and look great. Highly recommended and the were under 500.00

I don't mind modifying the crossmember, myself (my buddy wasn't into the idea). Do the Hedmans pretty much run parallel with the floor, rather than aiming downward?
