drilling large wholes in frame
I need to drill 1.5 inch holes in the frame for the front spring shankle hanger. And i need to know the best way of going about doing this. Ideas? These are huge holes and im out of ideas. Thanks for the insight because this is all I need to get my axle hung for my 4x4 swap

get a whole saw like the drill bit kind and some oil and have at it

where do I find hole saws for steel? all i know of is the ones for wood...
Man this is going to be a real big pain in the ass ! |

i just used a wood one and let her fly on my drill, i mean dont buy a real exspensive one because it prolly wont be any good once your done but it worked for me

yup i did a 52'' front spring swap but its all the same, i mean i drilled the same size whole and i worked out alright

do you have a harbor freight around where you live? they have steal hole saw bits. CHEAP

Lowes and Home Depot both sell steel cutting hole saws. Be sure to use a "corded" drill and grab some cutting oil while you're there. Take your time drilling.

Buy a bi-metal hole saw use some oil and you will be fine. They are made for all types of metal. Drill at a slow speed thou.

I think it's a 2" hole not 1 1/2", might want to check first!!! I got mine from a local hardware store....

x2 on this, if anything it is 1 3/4" I used the 2" and it worked great! I have about 1/4 inch of play on mine when I did them. I got mine at Home Depot.

it will take a 1.75 inch hole to clear the spring mount.
